Tuesday 6 March

Evening of poetry and music on 6th March at the Oxfam Bookshop St. Ives – from 7.00 p.m. Music provided by Grey Maybe. Poetry from Angela Stoner, Bob Deveraux, Linda Cleary and Colin Johnson.

Saturday 24 March

The Morrab Library in Penzance presents an open-mic Cornish Poetry Marathon (minus the mic). Bring your own work or a favourite poem (maximum two) from someone else, as long as the poem, or the poet is in some way related to Cornwall. Or just come along and enjoy the poetry! 10:30am to 12.30 pm, £5 entry fee, all proceeds to Morrab Library funds.

Two garden workshops at Trebah Gardens run by Caroline Carver, poet-in-residence. Both will focus on using nature as the starting gun. May 19 will begin by looking closely at some of the Georgic poems of Vita Sackville-West.

Words of Wonder: Making Poems from Myth and Legend with tutor, Zeeba Ansari. Venue: Truro; Time: 2.00-4.30; Cost: £65.00 (includes refreshments). Myths and legends are the oldest stories of all. They have all the elements of human comedy and tragedy, with the added dimension of fantasy. On this six-week course we'll be exploring ways of reworking the myths and legends of different countries in poetry, and creating some of our own. You are welcome to join The Indian King Poets for poetry writing workshops with Mimi Khalvati. Each morning will be a workshop, with the Saturday afternoon being a writing trip out; sadly Mimi will have to catch a train back to London on Sunday afternoon. The Writing Centre Summer Series Three short writing courses held in Truro and Penzance including fiction, poetry and writing for the community.
